Vision
Building a Strong and Flourishing Angola
At our foundation, we have a clear vision for Angola – a vision of a strong and thriving country where every person has the opportunity to live a full and happy life. We strive to make a positive and lasting impact on the communities we support, laying a foundation for a future full of opportunity and hope.
Our vision includes several key elements:
- Sustainable Development: We believe in the power of sustainability. We strive for development projects that not only meet current needs, but also take into account the needs of future generations. We want our projects to have a sustainable impact on the environment, economy and social fabric of Angola.
- Community Involvement: We believe change is most effective when it comes from within the community itself. We work closely with local communities, listening to their needs and aspirations, and actively involving them in the development and implementation of our projects. We strive to build and strengthen partnerships so that we can work together towards a better future.
- Empowerment: We believe in the importance of empowerment. We want to give people in Angola the resources, knowledge and skills they need to become independent and resilient. Through training, capacity building and fostering entrepreneurship, we strive to empower individuals and communities to shape their own futures.
- Equality and Inclusion: We strive for a society in which equality and inclusion are central. We strive for equal opportunities and rights for all people, regardless of their background, gender or social status. We are committed to breaking down barriers, reducing social inequality and working towards an inclusive society where everyone is valued and respected.
- Innovation: We embrace innovation and new approaches to find effective solutions to the challenges facing Angola. We encourage creativity and entrepreneurial spirit and are always looking for new ways to improve and innovate our work.
Guided by our vision, we are committed to helping transform Angola into a land of opportunity, growth and prosperity. We believe in the power of collaboration and are determined to make a positive change. Together with our partners and supporters, we work for a strong and thriving Angola in which the dreams and aspirations of the people come to fruition.
Mission
We can only achieve results through concrete solutions
By setting up one-off and ongoing projects, we want to contribute to meeting the basic needs of the Angolan population.
This is what we do (as much as possible):
- In collaboration with the Angolan government
- Under the direction of a local Angolan administration
- By spending funds raised in Angola
- By letting those involved share in the responsibility for the project
- By using development circles*
The projects are broadly followed from the Netherlands/Portugal. The implementation of the projects is in the hands of our Foundation Volunteers branch which has the status of NGO.
*By development circles we mean the logical connection or overlapping of project areas.
At our foundation, we have a mission that is deeply rooted in our commitment to Angola and its people. Our mission is clear: we strive to improve lives and bring hope to communities that need it most. We are committed to developing and executing projects that have a positive and lasting impact on the people we serve.
Our mission includes several core values and goals:
- Access to basic needs: We believe that everyone has the right to basic needs, such as clean water, nutrition, education and health care. We are committed to improving access to these essential services so that people in Angola can experience a better quality of life.
- Education and Skills: We recognize that education is the key to personal growth, empowerment and economic opportunity. We are committed to promoting quality education and increasing educational opportunities so that children and youth in Angola can acquire the skills and knowledge that enable them to build a better future.
- Health and Wellness: We are committed to improving healthcare and promoting healthy lifestyles in Angola. We are working to strengthen healthiinfrastructure, providing access to health services and promoting awareness of health issues so that people can lead healthier and better lives.
- Sustainability and Environmental Conservation: We attach great importance to preserving the environment and promoting sustainability. We are committed to projects that focus on clean energy, environmental protection and sustainable agricultural practices. In this way we contribute to a healthier planet and create resilient communities for the future.
- Community Development: We believe in the power of communities and the importance of community development. We partner with local communities, listen to their needs and work side by side to find sustainable solutions. We strengthen communities through capacity building, engagement and fostering economic opportunity.
Guided by our mission, we commit ourselves daily to transform lives, bring hope and make a lasting impact in Angola. We work with local partners, governments and communities to achieve our goals and pave the way for a better future for all. Together we are building a stronger, more resilient and hopeful Angola.
Children’s rights
Children are the future. The positive investment we make in our children means that they will make it in their children in the future. Only in this way can we build a sustainable society and future.
On November 20, 1989, the United Nations adopted a treaty with the basic rights of all children: the treaty of the Universal Declaration of the Rights of the Child. Also called the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Almost all countries in the world have signed this treaty, including the Netherlands. All of these countries must protect the rights of children in their countries.
The Convention on the Rights of the Child consists of 54 articles. Almost everything that is important for children is in it. The rights apply to all children around the world.
The most important rights of the child are:
- Right to education
- Right to one’s own religion and culture
- Right to a name and a nationality
- Right to one’s own opinion
- Right to a safe and healthy life
- Right to protection against child labour
- Right to protection against abuse and violence
- Right to protection in the event of war
- Right to play
- Right to grow up with family
- Right to safe drinking water
- Right to good health care
- Right to care in case of a disability
Many rights seem quite self-evident. But unfortunately that is not the case everywhere. That is why it is important to ask for it often enough.
Human rights
In addition, every person has rights, if only because he/she is a human being. Children and adults. These rights are meant to protect us from people who want to harm us, but also to help us work together and live in peace.
In total, 30 rights are described in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, a document signed by the United Nations in 1948. The United Nations was founded in 1945 just after the end of World War II. Its goal is to bring about and maintain peace in the world. Today, 192 countries are members of the United Nations.
Below is a simplified and abbreviated version of the Declaration. For the full text you can link to the site of the UN.
