The Local Support Project is an inspiring initiative by a foundation committed to developing and supporting sustainable agricultural projects in Angola. We believe that the power of agriculture can help create food security, economic growth and a resilient future for communities in Angola.
Our goal is to help local farmers and communities establish and improve sustainable agriculture initiatives. We work closely with farmer organisations, community leaders and local partners to provide the knowledge, tools and techniques needed to set up successful agricultural enterprises.
The Local Support Project offers technical training and workshops, teaching local farmers about sustainable farming practices, such as organic farming, irrigation systems, crop rotation and soil management. We believe that developing these skills not only increases agricultural productivity, but also enhances the resilience of farming communities.
We also support farmers in obtaining high-quality seeds, fertilisers and farming equipment. We work with local suppliers and organisations to make these resources available at affordable prices so that farmers have access to the tools they need to optimise their harvests.
The Local Support Project also encourages collaboration between farmers. We promote the creation of farmers’ organisations and cooperatives, in which farmers can work together, share knowledge and carry out joint purchasing and sales. This cooperation strengthens farmers’ position in the market and creates new economic opportunities.
Besides promoting sustainable agricultural practices, we also believe in the importance of promoting food security. The Local Support Project supports the development of kitchen gardens and small-scale agricultural projects in communities. By teaching people how to grow their own fruits and vegetables, we contribute to healthy food and a varied diet.
The Local Support Project believes in the importance of capacity building and sustainability. We work with local partners and communities to ensure that the knowledge and skills gained are applied and transferred permanently. This promotes a self-reliant and thriving agricultural sector in Angola.
